Norway: recording a moment in time

In January 2018 I traveled to Oslo and Tromsø, Norway to attend the Arctic Frontiers conference, report on science in the Arctic for Discover Magazine and gather interviews for my Arctic arts professional project this semester. It was a fantastic experience.

While in Oslo, I made a series of recordings while walking around the city at night. I was asked to write a blog post for Threshold podcast about my time in the Arctic, and in the process I created this sound piece. It’s reflection on my thoughts while a recording a moment in time, and in climate – and therefore in the culture of living in a cold place.

I have not done work like this before but would like to continue and get much better at it. Like prose for audio, it’s a meditation on my mindset at the time of recording and my reflections afterward.
